Datavail Presents Vision for the Future Structure of IT Organizations Featuring Independent Research Firm

Webinar: Data & Databases: The Third Pillar on Oct. 15

Broomfield, Colo. — Oct. 9, 2013 — Datavail CEO Mark Perlstein and guest speaker Noel Yuhanna, principal analyst at Forrester Research, Inc., will present their thoughts on the future structure of IT organizations. The webinar, “Data & Databases: The Third Pillar,” will explore the concept of separating data and database services from application and infrastructure and establishing a third pillar within IT organizations. The webinar, moderated by Howard M. Cohen of QuinStreet, will be held on Oct. 15 at 12:30 p.m. EDT.

To date, most IT organizations spread database teams across both the application and infrastructure groups. But due to its explosive growth, greater attention is being paid to data as a strategic asset. During this webinar, Perlstein and Yuhanna will present their vision for the imminent IT organizational evolution. Their vision calls for a standalone data team that, while smaller, carries significant value equal to the application and infrastructure divisions. The third pillar, the data organization, will aggregate all professionals who work with data – from operations and analytics to security and governance.

“Organizations with serious data needs must align their internal data management philosophy with the idea that data is a unique entity, supported by infrastructure, delivered by a wide range of applications, and consumed by end users,” said Perlstein. “A team accountable to internal consumers as well as an organizational vision for data management should manage the correct infrastructure and support model for organizational data.”

During this webinar, Perlstein and Yuhanna will suggest ways organizations can start thinking about data and database services separately from application and infrastructure. To register for this webinar, visit: http://bit.ly/17jIWFl.
