Datavail to Present at IT/Dev Connections Conference

Presenting “Extended Event Functionality: New Use for Old Ways for SQL Server”

Las Vegas, CA. — Sept. 15, 2014— Datavail will present an in-depth review of Microsoft SQL’s Extended Events functionality on Thursday, September 18, from 10:45 a.m. to noon at the IT/Dev Connections conference at the Aria Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

The presentation will address the ‘ain’t broke don’t fix it’ mentality by bringing SQL Server monitoring and troubleshooting tools and techniques up to date. Some tools from older SQL Server versions are deprecated and later versions often provide better troubleshooting options.

In this session, held in Bristlecone 10, the presenters will demonstrate how to leverage existing knowledge to get a handle on extended event functionality by demonstrating how it can replace the deprecated SQL Profiler tool. Then they will use that experience to update an ‘old-school’ blocked process alert. Takeaways will include a step-by-step approach as well as up-to-date information on appreciating the current SQL Server features and an introduction to Extended Events.

Datavail will also have a booth at the conference where experts will demonstrate Datavail’s SQL Server Health Checks. Attendees are encouraged to stop by booth 7 to meet with Datavail’s expert SQL Server DBAs.
