Optimize SQL Server: Query Tuning Techniques Part 2
In any given SQL Server instance, there are likely 8 to 10 queries or stored procedures that are responsible for 80 to 90 percent of the poorly tuned activity that you see throughout the day. If you can identify these problem queries and tune them, you can make a significant impact on the overall performance of your server. A key component of overall application performance tuning is query tuning. Writing queries in an efficient manner and making sure they execute in the most optimal way possible, is always a challenge.
Datavail’s SQL Server database expert, Raj Tandel presents on-demand webinar on query tuning techniques to ensure optimization of your SQL Server databases. He comes with more than 15+ years of experience in performance tuning, database design and development. Part 2 of a 2-part series focuses on query tuning techniques for:
- Common query tuning examples
- Explicit transaction
- Table variable v/s Temporary table v/s Correlated subquery
This webinar is based on a popular live presentation from PASS Summit 2018 that’s been called “simple enough for beginners to understand, but lots of in-depth examples for those with more experience.” Part 2 dives into a tuning the queries using a few scenarios that include a ‘before and after’ difference in performance.
