With COLLABORATE 15 literally right around the corner, Datavail’s Oracle team is ready to hit the conference floor of Mandalay Bay, running.
Each year we exhibit at COLLABORATE there are always new things to see, learn and do. The networking opportunity is outstanding and we’re looking forward to seeing our colleagues, clients and partners. For this year’s exhibit, we’ve planned a bit different approach than the normal tchotchkes and giveaways for our booth.
Sure, we’re still giving out special prizes but we also have what you may need most. A fast way to charge all your devices at once. No sitting on the floor by an outlet next to the restrooms (a la the airport), just a quick charging station in our booth where you can recharge your phone and your career at the same time.
While your phone is charging our Oracle experts will be on hand to answer questions about how some of our clients are using our Oracle database managed services to be able to focus more on strategic tasks and their careers.
Chuck Ezell, Senior Applications Tuner for Datavail, will present an education session titled Getting More in Less Time: Tuning your ETLs, where he will review some techniques on how to find the bottlenecks in your BI ETL jobs and some techniques to tune these slow SQL statements, improving the speed of nightly ETL jobs. Attendees will learn the steps to monitor ETLs, capture Problem SQL and gain knowledge to improve the overall ETL Performance
As part of the IOUG Leadership Program that Datavail is sponsoring, Mark Perlstein, Datavail’s President and CEO, will also speak at COLLABORATE. He will share his insight on how to ensure you are focused on the important, strategic components of your role, while also addressing the urgent tasks. He will share some of his insights on how you can you achieve these goals and position yourself for career advancement. Borrowing some of the principles found in Stephen Covey’s book “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People,” Mark will describe how he incorporates them into his day and how they work within the managed database services industry. Copies of the book will be distributed to presentation attendees as a special thank you from Datavail. . You can visit our website to learn more about both sessions.
Please visit us at booth #1212, and learn more about our presentations here. This year’s conference is sure to be a great time and full of great information. I hope you are able to stop by our booth or one of our sessions to say hi. If you can’t make it, stop by Datavail’s blog for all our great DBA content.

It’s 2015 and you can now establish totally respectable MS SQL DBA credibility just by mentioning you have been in the game since SQL Server version 9. You may even get the same gasps of shock from some colleagues that used to be reserved for the version 6 veterans.
