Productivity:

DBAs are being required to manage more databases and applications and therefore are deploying more productivity tools to simplify and automate both routine tasks and the collection of performance data.

Either way, rather than looking at your environment holistically and finding areas of improvement, your DBAs can easily neglect important tactics such as application monitoring, root cause analysis, and optimization.
